How to get in contact with Dr. Ramírez
In the event that your child becomes severely ill or sustains significant trauma after office hours, Dr. Ramírez is available 24 hours. Call the office phone number and an answering service will put you in touch with Dr. Ramírez.
Please have the following information available when calling the physician:
• Patient’s name
• Age
• Physician’s name
• Description of health problem
• Medications presently taking
• Temperature reading
• Pharmacy phone number

Guidelines for calling
Dr. Javier Ramírez after office hours:

Infants less than 2 months of age:
• Temperature 100.4° or more
• Temperature less than 95°
• Grunting or moaning with breathing
• Non-stop crying for more than 1 hour
• Refusal of 2 feedings
• Vomiting-projectile and /or bilious (green)
• Bloody stools
• Breathing rate greater than 50 per minute
• Head trauma
• Cyanosis (Baby turning blue, including lips)
• Accidental overdose

Infants/Children Older than 2 Months of Age:
• Temperature 103 or more
• Vomiting more than 2 times
• Diarrhea more than 10 times
• Bloody stools
• Trauma to head (loss of consciousness)
• Injury with questionable fracture
• Burns
• Appearing ill (with mental status change)
• Deep cuts that may need stitches
• Breathing rate more than 40 per minute (without fever)
• Seizure (first time)
• Asthma with wheezing/retractions
• Nose bled that does not stop after pressure applied for 15 minutes
• Poisoning-ingestion, fumes
• Rash with any of the following:
▪ Sudden onset with difficulty breathing
▪ Difficulty swallowing or slurred speech
▪ Large part of body breaking out while on medication
▪ Small purple or blood spots with fever
▪ Swollen tongue
